About Madrid For Refugees

Founded in 2015, Madrid For Refugees (MFR) is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to helping and empowering those in the local community who are: individuals who find themselves in the status of being a refugee, asylum seekers, stateless, and migrants in need of international protection and/or at risk of social exclusion. MFR works to improve social integration and employability.

Madrid For Refugees’ activities include classes, workshops and training for refugees (Digital Literacy, Languages, Coding, Employment), donations of essential items, awareness-raising initiatives, social intervention, and a refugee support network with partner organizations.

Through initiatives, we support more than 300 refugees in official refugee centers run by the government and by NGOs, along with more than 60 families in the community. We work with refugees from all over the world, such as Syria, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Jamaica, Venezuela, Eritrea, Morocco, Honduras, Colombia, El Salvador.

We collaborate with refugee centers, NGOs and businesses. Some of our partners include the United Nations (Agencia de Naciones Unidas para los Refugiados), la Comisión Española de Ayuda al Refugiado (CEAR), ONG CESAL, Asociación Lumbre, Movimiento por la Paz, la Asociación La Kalle Vallecas and VeraContent.

We rely on the generosity of individuals and organizations to allow us to continue our mission of empowering the refugee community.
