Madrid For Refugees unveils shared office space & partnership with VeraContent

2020 has been a tough year, but we’ve never stopped tirelessly working to support and empower the refugee community. Madrid For Refugees has some exciting news to share!

Unveiling our new office space, shared with VeraContent

We’re excited to unveil our new office at C/ Canarias 9 (Palos de Frontera), which we are sharing with VeraContent.

Pictured here are MFR leaders Christina Samson (middle) and Ivan Villanueva (left); along with VeraContent co-founders Daphne Binioris, James Leahu and Shaheen Samavati (L-R)

VeraContent is a Madrid-based multilingual content agency, made up of people who are passionate about culture, community and communication. In summer 2020, they founded the VeraImpact committee, which is dedicated to creating and developing initiatives that promote inclusion and social awareness among their team members and the communities they’re part of

Education and training programs for refugees in full force

Our collaboration goes beyond just sharing an office space! As part of this partnership, we’re proud to welcome volunteers from VeraContent, alongside our volunteer community, who have joined our team by teaching classes to refugees and migrants, and we will be collaborating on future projects.

Our education and training programs — language, digital literacy, coding— are in full force. MFR currently has over 35 students throughout our programs. Christina Samson, MFR President, has spoken to a few of the students and says they are very motivated!

MFR also resumed its employment workshops, helping refugees improve their CVs and giving them the tools to find opportunities in the current job market. (Note that all activities follow COVID-19 safety and hygiene measures)

More activities to be held at our shared office space

We will also be starting our benefit Paint & Wine classes with Vesta Rounsaville. The first one will be on Sunday, December 6th at 5pm, sign up here.

Donations of essentials for refugee families

Thanks to all of your support we have been able to put together and deliver full donation packs of essentials to over 10 refugee families. We also delivered essentials to refugee centers and associations. Sponsor refugee welcome kits here

It’s the season of giving!

In these difficult times, refugees need our assistance more than ever. In the spirit of Giving Tuesday—a global movement dedicated to spreading good—we invite you to donate, every little bit counts!

Your support will make it possible for us to continue helping refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants in the local community. Thanks so much for helping us continue our work and make a difference in their lives!
