Madrid For Refugees’ Artists-in-residence programme supports migrant and refugee artists based in Madrid, providing a space to develop their practice, collaborate with the MFR community, and present their work to new audiences. Our resident artists bring together disciplines spanning theatre, dance, performance, visual art, and cultural curation — creating programmes, exhibitions, and events that foster intercultural dialogue and artistic exchange. Artists-in-residence are active members of the MFR community who shape our cultural programming and whose work reflects the lived experiences of displacement, migration, and belonging.
Our current resident artists are Gabriela Rascón Licano, Mexican theatre director, cultural curator, and published author and Nayara Romero (VJOLLK), Colombian multidisciplinary artist, performer, and founder of Nómade Lab at MFR. Together they bring a rich range of practice to MFR — from contemporary dance and performance to theatre direction, visual art, and literary creation.
